Como Lake

Meeting with the guide at Tremezzo, visit of Villa Carlotta: the building has become a sort of icon of Lake Como, with its botanical garden of rare beauty which, in spring, offers the breathtaking view of 150 varieties of azaleas, rhododendrons and camellias in full bloom. Visit of the villa: the villa has been turned into a museum featuring statues, paintings and furniture mainly dating from the XIXth century.

A cruise in the central part of the lake follows. From the lake you will enjoy a unique view of the lake shores, of the villages, historical mansions and breathtakingly beautiful landscape.
Late in the morning the guide will take you to Bellagio.
Lunch at a typical restaurant with local cuisine.

Arona – Orta San Giulio

In the morning you will reach Arona, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Saint Carlo Borromeo Statue. The 23.40 mt. tall statue stands on an 11.70 mt. high granite pedestal for a total height of 35.10 mt. which makes it the second tallest statue in the world after the Statue of Liberty. It can be visited on the inside and from the pedestal one can enjoy a fabulous panorama.

Then you will go on to Orta. You will reach the center of this lovely town by a little train.
Hence you will go to Sain Giulio Island by private boat. Here you will be able to visit the thousand-year Basilica.

Afterwards you’ll come back to Orta and you will wander around the ancient village.

Lago Maggiore Express

The Lago Maggiore Express offers you an unforgettable journey by train and ship.
You will travel in Ticino, the southern part of Switzerland and in Italy.
For an hour and a half you will cross a wild and romantic region with the Centovalli railway through the Centovalli/valle Vigezzo (one hundred valleys): meadows alternate with daring bridges, streams of the purest water, vineyards, chestnut forests with villages clinging to mountain slopes.

You will navigate across the Lago Maggiore for three hours, to admire the Borromeo Islands, the Cannero castles and the Brissago Islands; a beautiful shoreline with quaint villages and picturesque bays.

You will have the opportunity to have lunch on board.

Borromean Islands

The excursion will include a tour of the famous Borromean Islands.
First you will go to Madre Island by private boat. You’ll see the Renaissance House and the Botanical Garden. Then you’ll go on to Pescatori’s Island, a characteristic little village, where you will be able to have lunch in a typical restaurant.
Afterwards you’ll reach Bella Island, where you will visit the elegant baroque Palace and the Italian-style terraced garden.
At last you’ll come back to Stresa, where you will have free time for wandering around town and shopping.

Tourist Hints
Isola Madre: This is the largest of the Borromeo Islands. Its gardens, where all manner of peacocks, parrots and pheasants roam freely, are full of rare plants and exotic flowers, helping to create the charm of a tropical land.
Isola Madre is particularly famous for its azalea, rhododendron, and camellia blossoms but also for the pergolas of ancient wisteria, for the Cashmere Cyprus, which is more than two hundred years old and is the largest example in Europe, and for the espaliers of citrons and lemons, for the collection of hibiscus and the Ginkgo biloba.
The exhibition of “Teatrini delle Marionette” (small puppet theatres) dating from the seventeenth/nineteenth centuries is also truly exceptional.

Isola Bella: The Borromeo family home offers visitors an elegant and sumptuous setting, and it contains priceless works of art such as tapestries, furniture, statues, paintings, and stuccoes. It also has an unusual mosaic grotto, a cool and delightful place. Once you have visited the palace, there is access to the garden for a pleasant walk. The gardens form an extraordinary, flowered monument laid out over a series of ornate and overlapping terraces, a classic and inimitable example of seventeenth century “Italian garden”.

Isola dei Pescatori: A beautiful interlacing of picturesque lanes lined with the typical white houses, this island takes its name from the century-long traditional occupation of its inhabitants. Jewel of the island is the marvelous church of San Vittore, which still preserves an absis dating back to the XI Century.

Golf & Sporting club Verbania

The golf club, which has been built within the new province of Verbania, a touristic province well known for its beautiful environment, has two courses; one regular 9 hole course par 68 and one executive 9 hole course par 27.
These courses are situated on flat land by the charming Lake Mergozzo with a beautiful view of the Alps which creates its suggestive natural surroundings.
The game is made varied and interesting due to the ponds and the vast wood, full of alder trees, but at the same time is also relaxing and not too tiring due to the peaceful surroundings of the course.
